using google forms to collect data

Use Google Forms to digitally capture the Annual Spending/Hours

Google Forms is a handy tool for collecting data from your FWC that must be reported to Firewise USA, including the annual Risk Reduction Investment (hours worked and money spent on Firewise activity).

Google Forms can assist in making these tasks simpler, especially if you have a large FWC, by asking homeowners to submit a self-assessment of their defensible space and home hardening online.

Note:

  • Google Forms editing works best with a Gmail account. Consider creating a Gmail account for your Firewise Community.
  • A Gmail account is not needed to respond to a Form.
  • Because Google Forms is a Google product, your experience and results will work better with the Google Chrome Browser and a Gmail account.

Download the Google Forms Instructions.

Download the NEW Annual Investment Form here (this one includes vegetation removal)- (Used for annual reporting of Firewise activities, money, hours, etc.). You will be prompted to make a copy. Once you make a copy, you can edit it.

If Google Forms is not for you, you can collect data for the Risk Reduction Investment (hours and money spent) using this VolunteerHourlyWorksheet-fillable_plus veg removalThe FWC leader can then send it as an attachment.

RISK ASSESSMENTS

Forms can also be used to gather some of the information for the Risk Assessment,, which needs to be updated every 5 years. The assessments are a general "picture" of the entire community. This form is for individual homeowners. Using only information from individual homeowners may not represent what the entire community looks like. Often, homeowners with better defensible space and home hardening are the ones most likely to fill them out. Only relying upon the forms can result in an assessment that shows your community in better shape than it is.

It is a very useful way for homeowners to take a close look at where they are at in maintaining good defensible space and hardening their home.
